The Kit

The Quad is a tough event requiring serious training and careful preparation. This includes ensuring you have the correct kit. All of your compulsory kit will be checked at registration check-in, and required standards must be met in order to complete registration check-in and participate in the event. This will ensure your safety throughout the event. Please see below for compulsory kit items and a recommended kit list.

Compulsory and Recommended Kit

Kit Check Information

Teams can check in on Friday 7th July between 15.00 and 22.30 but they must ensure they are on site for the compulsory safety briefing which will take place at 20:00. In order to ease potential congestion at the kit check, we ask that you arrive with ALL your compulsory kit. Have a separate bag with your personal event clothing. Put your personal mountain kit into one of the plastic kit bags given to you on arrival and once your compulsory mountain kit is checked off, add these items to your Mountain Kit Bag so you are ready for it to be sealed and removed at kit check. Remember to make a plan for having a mobile phone available for Friday evening/Saturday alarm call AND one as part of your compulsory team kit!

Kit Bags and Transitions

We will provide you with 3 extra large plastic kit bags at registration check-in for each of the 3 transitions. The process for dropping your kit off is fully explained in the Registration Check in Guidelines.

Transition Bag 1: Swim - Mountains

Mountain phase bags will be taken by the organisers once the kit check has been passed on Friday night. You will not have access to this bag again until after the swim. Include your participant number in this bag.

Transition Bag 2: Mountains - Kayak

Kayak phase bags will also be dropped off at check-in on the friday night and transported to the kayak start point by the organisers.

Transition Bag 3: Kayak - Bike

Bike bags will be left with your bike by YOU at the bike start point (Event Hub). Leave your second participant number in your bike bag.

Bike Hire

A road bike is strongly recommended. If you don’t have your own don’t worry, you can hire a road bike for £60 from John Miller at Wheels Cycles on 01877 331100 or john@wheelscyclingcentre.com.

  • Helmets are compulsory and ARE included with bike hire.
  • Bike lights, spare inner tubes and bike tools are NOT supplied with hire bikes, please supply your own. These are COMPULSORY KIT items.

John Miller will advise participants hiring a bike what spec of inner tube they should buy.
