The Kit

The Quad takes place in the beautiful Highland Perthshire around Loch Tay. The Ben Lawers mountain range and its surroundings is a stunning but wild and remote location; walking and running in the hills, kayaking on the loch and cycling round it will be an exhilarating experience! However, the weather on the high tops can be severe, even in July, so ensuring you have the right kit is essential. For your own safety each participant must bring the following compulsory and recommended kit items.

Compulsory and Recommended Kit

Kit Check Information

Teams can check in on Friday 5th July 2019 between 15:00 and 22:30 but they must ensure they are on site for the compulsory safety briefing which will take place at 20:00

In order to ease potential congestion, we ask that you come to check-in with ALL your compulsory kit. Have a separate bag with your personal event clothing. We will provide you with 2 large plastic kit bags at check-in for the transitions. Put your personal mountain kit into one of the plastic kit bags given to you and your kayak kit into the other bag. Once you have checked all the compulsory items are packed, the bags will be sealed and taken away (in preparation for transporting them to the swim/mountain transition and the mountain/kayak transition). Remember to make a plan for having a mobile phone available for Friday evening/Saturday alarm call AND one as part of your compulsory team kit!

Include your participant number in this bag. Remember to make a plan for having a mobile phone available for Friday evening/Saturday alarm call AND one as part of your compulsory team kit!

Transition Bag 2: Mountains - Kayak

Kayak phase bags will also be dropped off at check-in on the Friday night and transported to the kayak start point by the organisers.

Use your own bag for this transition. Bike bags will be left with your bike by YOU at the bike start point (Event Hub). Do that on the Friday night, or early on Saturday morning.

A road bike is strongly recommended. If you don’t have your own don’t worry, you can hire a road bike from Wheels Cycles on 01877 331100 or mark@wheelscyclingcentre.com.

  • Helmets are compulsory and ARE included with bike hire.
  • Bike lights, spare inner tubes and bike tools are NOT supplied with hire bikes, please supply your own. These are COMPULSORY KIT items.

Wheels Cycles will advise participants hiring a bike what spec of inner tube they should buy.
